Co-financing of Research Mobility of US Citizens in Slovenia Within the Fulbright Programme

Fulbright scholarships are intended for Slovenian doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers being hosted in the US and for US citizens being hosted in Slovenia. Candidates are selected on the basis of a previous selection procedure by the Fulbright Commission and final approval of candidates by the competent authority in the United States.

Slovenian citizens being hosted in the US can be awarded:

  • a stipend provided by the Public Scolarship, Development, Disability and Maintenence Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for the costs of air ticket and a monthly stipend in the amount defined by the relevant authority in the USA, if it is not provided by the USA authority;
  • a stipend for monthly maintenance (base stipend, living and housing allowances) and special benefits (travel relocation, books – research allowance, dependent tuition allowance) provided by the competent authority in the US.


US citizens being hosted in Slovenia can be awarded:

  • a monthly stipend - housing allowance and funds in the amount of obligatory health insurance in Slovenia provided by the Public Scolarship, Development, Disability and Maintenence Fund of the Republic of Slovenia;
  • a stipend for monthly maintenance (base stipend, living and housing allowance) and special benefits (travel relocation, books – research allowance, dependent tuition allowance) provided by the competent authority in the US.

The amount of stipend of the Public Scolarship, Development, Disability and Maintenence Fund of the Republic of Slovenia, conditions, criteria, deadline for registration and documentation provided by the applicant are determined by a call for applications.
