Technical high school education in Slovenia for West Balkans (Call No. 56)

Funding is available for financial support for the education of high school students from West Balkan countries at Slovene technical and vocational secondary schools.

The purpose of the call for applications is to choose a pilot project for educating non-Slovene citizens from West Balkan countries within educational programmes of technical and vocational secondary schools in the Republic of Slovenia in the academic year 2008/2009.

The project is to be carried out by one Slovene technical secondary school or educational centre and at least one employer. Available funds will be used to co-finance a pilot project, specifically to co-finance accommodation costs for high school students and tuition costs.

Co-financing will be granted for 2 years - for 2008/2009 when the pupils within the pilot project must be enrolled in the 3rd year of a 4-year technical or vocational educational programme and for 2009/2010 for the final year of the programme.

Available funds total 140,000 EUR for two years.

The purpose of the pilot project is to obtain technical secondary school education for not more than 20 non-Slovene secondary school pupils.

The pilot project must be registered by one technical secondary school or educational centre implementing publicly accredited technical and vocational educational programme in the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with at least one employer.

The selection criteria will be the participation of the employer and the number of included students.

The deadline for applications is 8 August 2008.

As application has to be submitted by the Slovene host school, further information is available in Slovene through Slovene web pages.
