Scholarships for studies of Slovenians living abroad in Slovenia
Scholarships for Slovenians abroad and around the world are intended for members of the indigenous Slovenian national community in neighboring countries and for descendants of Slovenian emigrants, for higher vocational or higher education studies at the 1st or 2nd cycle in the Republic of Slovenia. The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage the connection of young Slovenians abroad and worldwide with their homeland.
By providing scholarships for young Slovenians abroad and around the world to study in Slovenia, the fund actively contributes to establishing new connections between young people and their homeland. At the same time, it supports the objectives of the Republic of Slovenia’s strategy for economic cooperation with the Slovenian national community in neighboring countries and worldwide.
These objectives include the synergy of knowledge, experience, human resources, and activities, as well as strengthening existing and creating new economic flows between the areas of the Slovenian national community and Slovenia.
Since 2008, the scholarship program has enabled more than 1,000 students to come and study in Slovenia, thereby improving their knowledge of the Slovenian language and culture. This experience has had a positive impact on their independence, resourcefulness, and self-confidence, better prepared them for entering the labor market, and strengthened their ties with the homeland.
